Emoji Version 15.0
On 13 September 2022, the Unicode Consortium introduced version 15.0, which was updated with 4,489 new characters. This includes 20 new codepoints for emoji, as well as one Emoji ZWJ sequence creating the 🐦⬛ “Blackbird” emoji, and 10 emoji modifier sequences, 5 each for 🫸 “Rightwards Pushing Hand” and 🫷 “Leftwards Pushing Hand”.
In total, Unicode version 15.0 includes 31 emojis:
The new emojis are expected to arrive on major platforms as soon as late 2022/early 2023. Google will receive the update first, followed by Apple, Twitter, Samsung and Facebook.
