Emoji Version 15.0


On 13 September 2022, the Unicode Consortium introduced version 15.0, which was updated with 4,489 new characters. This includes 20 new codepoints for emoji, as well as one Emoji ZWJ sequence creating the ๐Ÿฆโ€โฌ› โ€œBlackbirdโ€ emoji, and 10 emoji modifier sequences, 5 each for ๐Ÿซธ โ€œRightwards Pushing Handโ€ and ๐Ÿซท โ€œLeftwards Pushing Handโ€.

In total, Unicode version 15.0 includes 31 emojis:



The new emojis are expected to arrive on major platforms as soon as late 2022/early 2023. Google will receive the update first, followed by Apple, Twitter, Samsung and Facebook.

Interesting fact:
  • Version 15.0 includes the ๐Ÿฉท Pink heart emoji without additional embellishments or other features, which has been considered one of the most requested emojis among users since 2016;
  • Once the ๐Ÿซ Donkey emoji will be released, both major political parties in the US will be able to present their emoji characters online.
