This event is celebrated by professionals and astronomy enthusiasts of a fairly old discipline, and it is held twice a year. The first time is in spring, and the second time is in autumn. The spring period is between mid-April and mid-May, and the autumn one is scheduled between mid-September and mid-October.
This event was started in 1973 by Doug Berger (aka the president of the Astronomical Association of Northern California). He declared that it wasnโt necessary to visit distant worlds in order to discover space, it was enough to set up a good and affordable
Now during these two periods in many countries various scientific museums, observatories and planetariums hold huge events, which are very popular among the population. Their goal is to increase the importance of astronomy as a science and awareness of our vast and mysteriously beautiful ๐ universe.
